We have been working with the new Sports Minister and his deputy Director General over the past week looking for a way to get the guarantee in place. Whilst we have been given no firm dates from either the Government (on guarantee) or Basketball Australia (NBL teams for next year) we are hoping to hear early next week on both matters.

Whilst we have had nothing official from BA, the sole focus of dialogue has been the guarantee - so we are confident all other matters addressed in the Expression of Interest have been given a tick.

NBL Launch:
Basketball Australia is launching its new branding next Tuesday (click here for story) in Federation Square in Melbourne, and we are hopeful that they will announce the teams that will pound the boards next season.

As soon as we hear something positive, rest assured the news will be on the website.

Taipans Dinner: Friday, April 3rd
The Taipans End of Season dinner is being held on Friday April 3rd at the Cairns Convention Centre, that's tomorrow! Martin Cattalini is unfortunatley unable to attend, however The Swingin' Alley Catz will be there!

Awards:
At the Taipans end of season dinner, 4 awards will be announced;

1. Coach's Award: nominee's Dwayne Vale, Ian Crosswhite, Matt Smith, Dean Brebner, Gary Boodnikoff.
2. Defensive Player of the Year Award: nominee's Darnell Mee, Aaron Grabau, Kerry Williams, Scott Cook.
3. Most Valuable Player : nominee's Martin Cattalini, Aaron Grabau, Ian Crosswhite.
4. Club Person of the Year: announced on the nite. Previous winners include Aaron Fearne, Steve O'Mulloway, Matt Bolton, Gordon Greaves.
